Lyndon McCray
Brooklyn, NY

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Lyndon McCray defines himself as a "Fun" artist - No Rules! No Worries!  By three years old, he was a conscientious, 100% endorsed, certified "art-teest," on display exclusively on his Grandma's Frigerator Door.

According to Lyndon, "Contrary to the usual sports and acting as outlets for black boys, my upbringing revolved around art classes at PS20, weekend/summer courses at Brooklyn Museum, Pratt University, and Cooper Union.

Using the same materials from his art making days as a child from your local dollar store (crayon, markers, whiteout, and any other found materials), Lyndon reimagines everyday recognizable materials that speaks to the child in all of us in his mixed-media portrait/sculpture work for his first exhibition since 1999.  The themes present in the show speak to his gratitude towards his friends and family who nurtured his creativity since childhood into the present.

Lyndon broaden his art discipline into documentary filmmaking through the NAACP ACT-SO program at DCTV and subsequently attended the Film Conservatory of SUNY Purchase. His films have been on the film festival circuit (Urbanworld, Hollywood Black) as well as Showtime's Black Filmmaker's showcase in 2004. Lyndon has his own production company, Reels of Thumbs, working on a variety of films, music videos, talent demo reels, EPKs, trailers, comedy sketches, and web series.
