Artist Statement:
Again, Eguchi’s exhibition is best described by the artist in his own words:
“In Portal II, I continue exploring new ways to experience the expansive concept of connection. In contrast to Portal Part I, PPII is expressed more organically, embracing the unknown in response to ever-changing circumstances.
Portal is the space where I both find and lose myself. Driven by a permanent curiosity, I observe, question, discover and allow myself to exist through a variety of tools and materials - whether acquired, received or collected. My practice manifests in videos, drawings, paintings, sculptures and installations, all of which explore the interpretation and representation of memories that reflect the cultural encounters and mismatches between Brazil, Japan and the United States, creating a space for reflection and connection between the different realities.
Elements of nature, architecture, music and urban culture deeply influence my work, serving as languages that connect the imaginary to the tangible. I embrace this artistic practice as a form of communication, particularly when my language falls silent due to the barrier of the language itself.”
